Another Home

A long time ago, there was a little girl who lived in the most memorable place on earth. People named that place Jogja. She named it Another Home. She lived there with her mother and little sister. Sometimes, her father came to visit. He would came along from a place called Hometown and brought her another piece of happiness. Whenever her three precious people was around, she knew that it couldn't be any happier. Until it was not.

In Another Home, when she could hardly read, she cried a lot. Mother pinched her for every mistake she made while spelling words. After another round of tears, finally, she could read by her own, even difficult words like "hmm". She read it from a dialogue bubble in a story follows two squirrels fighting over a walnut. Father should've been there to see her read, because it was him who bought her first magazine. Long before she could even read. Even the easiest word.

In Another Home, mother always asked her to buy 2,5 liter of minyak tanah in a Warung. Mother never asked her little sister to buy anything, but she never complained about it. For most of the times, she would run to the Warung and her little sister would follow. She was being followed anywhere she goes.

One afternoon, mother asked her to buy the same thing. It was the time for her sister to take a bath. Her sister was already naked. She thought, "there's no way she would follow me naked." On a half way to the Warung, she noticed that she was being followed by a naked creature. Immediately, she ran back to home, for the sake of saving herself from public humiliation. "Don't follow me!" she shouted. After making sure that there's no one behind, she ran as fast as she could to the Warung, bought the minyak tanah and ran back home like her life was depended on it. She was relieved that her father wasn't around, because he might've laughed at her.

This used to be the site of her house, but it was such a long time ago that now there's nothing remained.
In Another Home, together with her sister, she watched Petualangan Sherina for hundred times, that most of dialogue in CD 1 was tattooed in their heads. They could precisely imitate every dialogue between the characters. They even make fun of their mother by calling her, waiting for her to respond and ended up imitating a line of a dialogue between Sherina and her mother. If only father was there, maybe they would've made fun of him by imitating a dialogue between Sherina and her father.

In Another Home, mother took her to school by bike. Her sister was seated between her and mother. Three of them were so tiny that they could fit in a bike. Mother was doing so well riding her two children with the bike. Until one day, she was not. Out of blue, she rode the bike so recklessly, she trembled and fell to a mountain of sand. It made the little girl upset, while mother was just laughed.

The little girl didn't understand why would her mother laugh over such a tragic accident. Her green and white uniform was full of sand, her backpack was too. There's nothing to laugh over. She left her mother and sister with the bike, determined to just walk to school, but mother chased her and promised that she won't fall anymore. The little girl didn't trust her mother, but she climbed on the bike anyway. Finally, as the promise said, they arrived at school safely. Maybe if father was on the charge of taking her to school, they wouldn't have fallen, because his legs are way longer and stronger than mother's.

The school where she no longer need her mother to take her by bike. She walked there by herself.
After three years being in Another Home, she came back to Hometown and back together with her father. She should've been happier because they were back as a family of four. They were indeed, but not for a long time. In Hometown, she witnessed her parents's first fight ever. Maybe it wasn't their first, but it was the first that she could understand. She was no longer a little girl. She knew it without needing anyone to explain.

Five years later, she came back to Another Home with her mother and sister. It would be only three of them again. Not merely because of the distance, but also because of the legal standing.
